Headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida, Lakeview Health is a leading accredited substance abuse treatment provider. In 2012, Trinity Hunt Partners identified Lakeview as a platform from which to build a “Center of Excellence” in the drug & alcohol treatment industry. Behavioral healthcare had been a thematic area of expertise for Trinity Hunt since 2007, and the firm was able to leverage its industry experience, contacts, and knowledge of industry best practices developed from its previous successful investments in the behavioral health sector including Eating Recovery Center and Castlewood Treatment Centers.
In order to ensure the successful execution of its growth strategy, Trinity Hunt brought in CEO Roy Serpa, a proven healthcare executive and former CEO of THP Fund III portfolio company Jordan Health, to lead the company. Partnering with Roy Serpa, Trinity Hunt made significant investments in the Company’s leadership team that, in turn, positioned the platform for significant future growth from existing facilities and de novos. Specifically, Lakeview hired a Director of Sales to establish a coordinated marketing strategy and built a sales team from 0 to 18 reps nationwide, leading to significant census growth. Additionally, Trinity Hunt hired a Director of Marketing to develop a comprehensive go-to-market strategy which accelerated admissions volume momentum through both direct to consumer marketing as well as marketing to referents. Lakeview also made sizeable investments in the Company’s clinical care, hiring an industry-leading Chief Clinical Officer, a Chief Medical Officer, and building a culture of servant leadership that led to all-time highs in employee morale (hereby reducing turnover) and patient satisfaction (thereby reducing patient attrition). THP also brought on three addiction industry leaders (Dr. Mark Gold, Susan Coppage Evans, and Dr. Dave Moulthrop) to Lakeview’s Board of Directors to provide strategic guidance and identify growth initiatives for the Company’s management team.
Trinity Hunt further supported Lakeview in a $27.9 million campus renovation, including updates to the primary facility, as well as the construction of a world-class conference and wellness center, an administration building, and a state-of-the-art, 54-bed, women-only treatment facility. These initiatives successfully transformed Lakeview into a national leader within the addiction field and helped contribute to its significant growth over Trinity Hunt’s 4 year hold period.
In December 2016, Trinity Hunt successfully exited the investment in a sale of the company to a global private equity firm based in New York.
